Each year, tens of thousands of young people leave the U.S. foster care system without the support or resources to transition into independent adulthood. A new initiative called Petra Cares is working to bridge that gap by helping former foster youth secure stable career opportunities. The program focuses on providing mentorship, job training, and connections to employers willing to hire individuals with foster care backgrounds. With limited long-term support for this vulnerable population, efforts like these aim to improve their chances of building successful futures.
About 23,000 young people age out of the U.S. foster care system each year. Petra Cares aims to connect those young adults with career opportunities.
