Each year, tens of thousands of young adults leave the U.S. foster care system without the support or resources to transition into independent living. A new initiative called Petra Cares is working to bridge that gap by helping former foster youth secure stable career opportunities. The program focuses on providing access to jobs, training, and mentorship to improve long-term outcomes for this vulnerable population. With many aging out of care facing significant challenges in employment and housing, the effort could offer critical support during a pivotal life stage.

About 23,000 young people age out of the U.S. foster care system each year. Petra Cares aims to connect those young adults with career opportunities.
