California's automotive market is shifting towards a more environmentally friendly future, with new data revealing a significant increase in the adoption of hybrid and electric vehicles. In the first half of the year, a record 864,848 vehicles were registered in the state, with standard hybrids capturing a substantial 22 percent of the market. This represents a notable surge in demand for hybrid vehicles, which are seen as a key stepping stone towards full electrification. Meanwhile, electric vehicles (EVs) are also gaining traction, accounting for 16 percent of registrations, while plug-in hybrids trail behind with 2.3 percent.
