’88 Toyota Corolla, carbureted, 5-speed, 4-door… my first car—a hand-me-down. The thing had over 400k on it and ran perfectly. My dream car at the time was a Gen 2 Integra coupe (this was in the early 2000s), and the only way I could convince my parents to let me get it was if this car stopped working. I did everything you can imagine, and it still ran perfectly fine. What finally killed it was the rear lug bolts snapping on the driver’s side while I was driving—the wheel came off. This was most likely due to my dumb ass torquing it to 400ft lbs...It could’ve been an easy fix, but I swore the car was no longer safe to drive, so we had a scrapper come and take it away. submitted by /u/pq11333 [link] [comments]
