Western Massachusetts residents may be thinking twice about ditching their gas-guzzling vehicles for electric ones, thanks to a shift in government incentives. A Holyoke car dealer claims that new incentives are making electric vehicles (EVs) more affordable, despite concerns that higher electricity rates would offset the savings. The dealer points to a combination of federal and state tax credits, as well as rebates and other perks, that are helping to bring down the cost of EVs. As the region continues to push for cleaner energy and reduced carbon emissions, the debate over the practicality of EVs is heating up - and it seems that the tide may be turning in their favor.
