Industry experts are sounding the alarm over a growing skills gap in electric vehicle (EV) repair and maintenance, which could hinder the growth of the used EV market. According to a warning from IMI (Institute of the Motor Industry), a lack of qualified technicians could lead to a bottleneck in the industry, making it difficult for consumers to access reliable and affordable used EVs. As the demand for used EVs continues to rise, the need for skilled professionals who can diagnose and repair complex EV systems has become increasingly pressing. With the UK government's target to phase out new petrol and diesel car sales by 2030, the pressure is on to address this skills gap and ensure the used EV market can meet growing demand.
