A historic low turnout has been reported in the United Auto Workers' second direct election of officers, with fewer than 10 percent of eligible members casting ballots. The court-appointed monitor confirmed that just under 100,000 votes were submitted, raising questions about member engagement in the union’s leadership selection process. The results highlight a significant drop in participation compared to previous elections, where a much larger share of the membership typically voted. The figures underscore challenges in mobilizing union members amid ongoing debates over representation and governance.

According to the court-appointed monitor, 99,670 ballots were cast in the UAW’s second-ever direct election of officers — representing less than 10 percent of those eligible to vote.
