India's capital city is taking a bold step to combat its notorious air pollution problem. In a bid to reduce the number of old, polluting vehicles on the road, the New Delhi government has launched a new initiative offering residents a substantial incentive to trade in their gas-guzzling cars for electric vehicles (EVs). Under the scheme, residents can receive a one-time payment of $1,000 to scrap their old vehicles and purchase a new electric car. The move aims to not only improve air quality but also promote the adoption of eco-friendly transportation options in the city, which has struggled with severe pollution in recent years.
