Swedish electric vehicle (EV) manufacturer Polestar has been dealt a significant blow in the United States, as it faces a ban from the country's EV market due to non-compliance with the Federal Motor Vehicle Safety Standards (FMVSS) Connected Vehicle Rule. The rule, which was implemented in 2019, requires all new vehicles to be equipped with a dedicated short-range communication (DSRC) system that enables vehicles to communicate with each other and with infrastructure, enhancing safety and reducing accidents. Polestar's vehicles, which have been popular among EV enthusiasts, do not meet this requirement, and as a result, the company will no longer be able to sell its vehicles in the US market. The ban is a major setback for Polestar, which has been rapidly expanding its global presence in recent years.
