Porsche is set to join forces with Chinese electric vehicle manufacturer Xpeng to form a carbon offsetting pool under the European Union's (EU) new carbon pricing scheme. The EU's Carbon Border Adjustment Mechanism (CBAM) requires companies to pay for emissions generated outside the bloc, and the new pool aims to help Porsche and Xpeng offset their CO₂ emissions within the EU. By partnering with Xpeng, Porsche is expanding its reach into the rapidly growing Chinese electric vehicle market, while also taking a significant step towards reducing its environmental footprint. As the EU's carbon pricing scheme comes into effect, other companies may follow suit, sparking a major shift in the global automotive industry's approach to sustainability.
