Vietnam's rapid growth as a hub for low-cost electric vehicle (EV) manufacturing has been a major success story in recent years, with numerous international brands setting up shop in the country to take advantage of its favorable business climate and skilled workforce. However, as the global EV market continues to evolve and competition intensifies, Vietnam is being urged to move beyond its current focus on low-cost production and develop more advanced capabilities. Industry experts say that the country must invest in research and development, as well as upgrade its manufacturing infrastructure, if it is to remain a major player in the EV sector. By doing so, Vietnam can not only increase its competitiveness but also create higher-value jobs and drive innovation in the industry.
