Used electric vehicle batteries from early models like the Renault Zoe and Nissan Leaf are reaching the end of their warranty periods, creating a growing market for second-life applications. According to Circunomics, these aging batteries will increasingly be repurposed for vehicle use, grid energy storage, or recycling, as demand shifts away from new units. The oversupply of used batteries is also expected to maintain downward pressure on prices across these sectors. Industry observers are watching closely as the transition from warranty-covered to post-warranty batteries reshapes the market.

As early Renault Zoes and Nissan Leafs age out of warranty, Circunomics says used batteries will split between vehicles, grid storage and recycling, while oversupply keeps pressure on prices.
