Electric vehicle manufacturers are shifting their focus towards a new revenue stream: software. In a move that could signal a significant shift in the industry, Rivian has already taken the plunge with a $49 monthly subscription service launched in February. The subscription model, which offers a range of premium features and services, is set to be followed by Lucid, which has announced plans to launch its own software subscription service next year. As Tesla continues to dominate the electric vehicle market, its competitors are looking for ways to generate additional revenue and stay ahead of the game, and it remains to be seen whether this new business model will pay off.

Tesla isn't alone in chasing software revenue. Rivian launched a $49 monthly subscription in February and Lucid plans its own next year.
